Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer found in men. It is one of the most treatable and curable cancers when detected early. Prostate Cancer can be picked up early if men make sure they visit their GP’s at the age of forty for a preventative physical examination as well as a blood test called the Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA test.

Kidney Stones
Kidney Stones are formed in the kidneys and are usually made of solid minerals and salt deposits. Calcium oxalate stones are the most commonly formed stones. Kidney Stones can affect any part of your urinary tract like kidneys, ureter or bladder. Kidney Stones are a common problem and approximately 5-10% of Australians suffer from them at some stage in their lives. We offer treatment via medical, laser or surgical methods.

Male and Female Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence is the loss of urine control, leading to accidental leakage. It can occur randomly or following surgery. We can help fully assess the condition through Urodynamic studies and provide best medical or surgical (fascial sling) treatment. Our practice offers specialised pelvic floor physiotherapy (strengthening and improving control of the abdominal
organ support muscles).

Bladder Cancer
Bladder Cancer is the second most common urological cancer and usually begins in the cells that line the bladder. Bladder Cancer has been linked to cigarette smoking and exposure to industrial chemicals and toxins.
Symptoms that patients may notice include blood in the urine and changes in
urination habits such as uncomfortable burning, an increased number of visits to the toilet (frequency) and an urgency to urinate.

Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. After comprehensive assessment , the management might include medical therapy, injectable treatment, vacuum pumps or surgery (in the form of a prosthesis).

Vasectomy
Vasectomy is a safe and effective method of birth control. This operation is only
carried out when you are certain that you have fathered all the children you wish to
have. Vasectomy should be viewed as a permanent form of contraception with only a small possibility of reversibility. It is important to take time for reflection before
electing to undergo vasectomy. Vasectomy is a procedure in which the ‘Ductus deferens’ (also called the vas) are cut and blocked. The Ductus deferens are the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the urethra/penis to allow sperm to pass out during ejaculation.
Testicular Cancer
Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer found in men between the ages of 18 and 39 years old. Testicular Cancer is highly treatable and curable if patients ensure they are compliant with their treatment. Testicular Cancer occurs in the testicles located inside the scrotum and it is usually only found in one testicle.

Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery
Minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery revolutionised surgical access and patient recovery. The two current types of keyhole surgery are laparoscopic surgery and robotic. During laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon directly holds the instruments that perform the operation. Robotic surgery is the most recent invention in surgery and uses keyhole incisions,
robot arms and an operating console to complete the operation. During robotic
surgery the robot arms hold the instruments and the surgeon moves the robotic arms via the operating console. The robot allows the surgeon to perform tiny and precise movements that were previously not possible. The miniature robotic instruments can fit into extremely tight spots and move in ways that human hands cannot; and the machines software automatically adjusts for any surgeon hand tremors. Advantages are less pain and quicker recovery, minimal scarring, less blood loss and surgical complications, less risk of infection.
Oncology
Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancers. We provide a holistic, multidisciplinary cancer service, fully integrated with the Tasmanian and Australian cancer networks.
